A Strong Password Is Not Enough! – There Is No Data Security Without a System

In our previous blog post on data security, we looked at what happens to your documents after you send them for translation.

Now let’s look at the other side. What does a translation agency need to do to make sure your data is truly secure?

The short answer: far more than simply using strong passwords

True data security does not depend on a single measure. It requires multiple layers of legal, human, and IT protection working together.

That is why, at Hunnect, we start protecting our clients’ data before the first document even reaches us.

Our agreements with employees and subcontractors clearly define how documents may be handled.

We work under data processing and confidentiality agreements, and our subcontractors are not allowed to pass assigned work on to someone else at their own discretion.Prior approval is required.

Trust matters. But data security cannot be built on trust alone.

It is just as important to make sure that not everyone has access to everything.

That is why every employee and subcontractor has their own individual user account. External specialists can access only the files they genuinely need in order to complete their assigned task.

Within our own systems, access rights are managed according to user roles, and of course, the technical infrastructure itself must also be protected. We access our working environment through encrypted connections, log sign-ins and access activity, use endpoint protection software on every computer, and regularly update our applications. And strong passwords only come into play alongside all these other measures.

These may seem like small details, but good data security works precisely because no detail is treated as insignificant.

Biztonsági mentés

For the same reason, we maintain multi-layered backups stored in physically separate locations, as well as a dedicated recovery system in case an unexpected event occurs.

Because no matter how strong the safeguards are, there is one question that must always be asked: What happens if something does go wrong?

We do not claim that this can never happen. But we are confident that we are prepared for it. ;-)

We have an incident response plan in place, require incidents to be reported within a short timeframe, and if an event involving personal data requires notification to the authorities, we follow the applicable procedures. For us, data security is part of the trust our clients place in us every time they send us a document.

That is why a strong password is not enough. Data security requires a system.

Because when you entrust your materials to us, our job is not only to return them in the right language. It is also to keep everything you have entrusted to us secure throughout the process.

If you have any questions, get in touch with us and let’s see how we can help.
